I've read somewhere that its only 20k-25k. But you could keep spending money on it and it would last forever right?

I have 54K+ on my v-max. Valves still in spec, burns no oil and still gets about the same gas milage as i always have around 35+.
I have seen a few cruisers with over 200K miles on them and still going strong.
All depends on how you take care of them i guess.

Modern bikes should be capable of 100K+ if you keep up with maintenance.

My YZF600R is at 66, and gets 50 mpg. Typical maintenance: fresh oil and carb balance every 4K, lube chasis, adjust valves, change fork oil, all other fluids every 28K. The thing is a tank.

My R1200RT is at 24, and gets 48 mpg. Maintenance: whatever the book says while my wallet is open for BMW every 6K.

My '03 SV650 HAD 16k miles when the odo went out (I bought it with only 13k). I think it's probably around 25-30k now. It runs like a champ - NO problems at all. I get about 50-55 mpg regularly.

I saw an article a few years back on this & they featured a 900rr that had 216,000 miles & counting. The guy commuted a hundred miles each way to work every day & was still doing track days on the weekends.

That would only take about eight years. It's what I do to my bike as well. I just don't have the fun of a sport bike. I think I will reward myself with a fun bike in Oct. 2011.

I have 46K (9K in Nov 08) and get 38 mpg at 75 mph on a Honda Shadow with rejet for the K&N filter and cobra pipes.

Compared to most people the fact that you did the math correctly but just with the wrong numbers surprised me. I knew where your mistake was and it is easy to do.

I think the reason you don't see high mileage on most sport bikes is because most of them get wrecked or only ridden on nice days. A bike can get as many miles as a car can as long as you take care of it.

I told you, those old cbr's are bulletproof.
