Vanson makes some good . REALLY good . For off the rack, they're hard to beat.

Langlitz is total custom. Since you found their site, do some looking. Some of their styles are a tad old fashioned, but when you look at who wears them, it kinda opens your eyes.

vanson makes totally custom as well. dunno about tad, that ugly brwn/black jacket i posted up , can't think of any time that thing woulda been "cool".........lol

i could really care less who wears them, obviously your priorities are diff. then mine, its how they survive in a crash thats important to me.

and when i asked on the WERA race board, vansons was far ahead on top for racers who tend to product test them more then the avg. rider. , but unforn. $ is always a factor

#2 on the list ended up being www.racingleather.com 1 guy making suits.....and thats who i went w/

For the cost of the wheels you have on your car, you could buy probably 2 good jackets (A*, Dianese, Tourmaster, Vanson), a couple pairs of good pants, 3-4 pairs of good gloves, a rainsuit and a Shoei, Arai or Schuberth helmet. Just sayin...

, somehow i never can get my point across to you knuckleheads,

what i was trying to say and failed horribly is that i'm going to spend the money on a good jacket and i want to pay for assured protection as in a jacket that has been proven to work by another rider who took a fall with it rather than pay for brandname.

from what i'm thinking, just because it says a* or shoei does not mean it woould give me the best protecion for whatever amount ii pay for it.

hence, "i'm not paying for brandnames"

i ride in a mesh joe rocket jacket presently with no badges on it so i'm not trying to make a fashion statement wit a jacket i'll take off once i get off the bike.

now on guys

Mesh jackets will burn into your skin on a good enough fall. Ive seen it happen I would only wear leather and Icon is great brand not for the track but for street I have never had a problem with them.

on many of the cheaper jackets i agree

but a few make them out of kevlar, and they won't melt down.

I have also seen mesh save flesh, but end up torn to . Ween just went down two weeks ago in his mesh (Fieldsheer) and the jacket hasn't a scratch. The icon shin/knee guards had more damage than the jacket - but still SAVED his right knee and are fine for wearing again and again.

I also have a Fieldsheer mesh AND a Teknic Violator leather. I LOVE my Teknic jacket, but it's not perforated so it does get hot.

I have see a perforated leather Dianese rip apart in an accident that the man rode away from - take that how you will.

Did you find a jacket? What did you end up getting?

I'm thinking about getting armor to wear under my mesh on hot days. Most of the time I wear leather, but some days around Houston get too hot.

My opinion on the subject is well known around here, but I'll reiterate. IMO, A* makes . I have had great experiences with Icon gear. The A* gear I have owned was on par with Yugo quality, and they WILL NOT stand behind it.

I stick with Tecnik or AGV. You get good quality for a good price. It may not be THE TOP, but it's a lot more affordable than Dianese.
