what is needed to convert race/track bike to street?

I am going to be buying a race bike that I am wanting to convert to the street.. it is a 600cc bike

The bike has no headlight, taillights, license plate, ect.... the bike DOES HAVE a wiring harness for lights.... so my question is what do I need to buy to convert?? How pricey is this?? Thanks

these might help

I can probably get everything, but the only thing I am concerned about is the front headlight... where would I get the whole thing??? looks like there isn't even a spot for a headlight... or maybe I can just attach some headlights somewhere in the front

what is needed to convert race/track bike to street?

whatcha got there

whatcha got there is a yamaha yzf600r (aka thundercat) w/a race body, if you want to get on street you should check for oem fairings and headlight. also check the title, if no title, no street....... if salvage, then good luck....

Why dont you just keep it a track bike and save yourself the trouble of buying all those parts by buying a street legal bike as well...if you have the cash.....

Most street legal bikes I have looked for are out of my price range...

and I am needing a street bike... I have no use for a track/race bike unless it's street legal

how much would it cost to get all the parts I will need??? Any ideas???

The blinker lights will be cheap...probably like $40 for some front and rear ones like the ones at cycle gear or something. A plate holder is cheap too. I have no idea how much a headlight and tail light would run though. You would have to replace or cut that front fairing. New fairings are a few hundred dollars I think. Whats your price range for the bike/ and the extras...you could remove the fairings and make it a street fighter styled bike too if you had to...

well... I have about $200 I can spend on parts to make the car legal....

I saw a front OEM fairing on a site... which was $200 alone... and on another site the headlight assembly was $162... and flasher(not sure if I need this..?) assembly was about another $100

so:
$200 ffairing
$40 blinkers
$162 headlight

not sure about tail lights

cheap fix for me, but im handy with a dremel.

taillights are like $40 on ebay, any brand will work since you are modifying it to fit.

headlight, wire some type of fogs, thats it.

i could get that legal for less than a $150.

legal, but i dunno how safe it is for night riding. lol

Well with $200 I think a street fighter is about your only option unless you can find a trade or something...good luck...street fighters are cool though. or follow the previous posts advice

I saw mirrors on ebay
-$60 for both mirrors
-$60 for taillight

also, I found a front upper fairing on ebay.. $26(about 2 days left)

will a new upper fairing(since it has a spot for a headlight) work?? or do I need another braket to hold it?

I don't know if fog lights will pass inspection... thought they have to be 1000ft projection or something?? haha.. or maybe they will let it slide.. I just won't drive it at night

inspection is a joke, at least most place are. i think some people on this board hook it up anyways. inspection is $12.50 anyways so if u fail then go back again or whatever.

any car place will do inspection, most just tell u to pull up, brake so they see the tail light working, honk the horn, turn ur blinker if u have them, dont need them though. mirrors u only need one.

barend mirrors at bicycle shops are like $15.

i seen sv taillights go for $20 all the time, seems to be a good match for your tail fairing.

new fairing might work, who knows if it needs another bracket. its all about ghetto rigging and zip ties anyways for doing it cheap.

haha... good point

I found a license plate frame w/ built in blinkers $37
both side mirrors $40
probably can find a cheap taillight
I guess I could use some GOOD fog lights and mount them under the front fairing for head lights
and of course a horn, which I can take right off if I need to
