Not really. I showed up to my MSF course with a Shoei helmet, textile armored jacket, motocross gloves, steel toe boots, and the toughest pants I had (paintball gear). This was before I owned a bike. If someone had talked to me about the benefits of moto specific boots and pants, leather street bike gloves and wearing knee pads I would have listened to them.

My point is there are some individuals who will listen. Just because you don't/won't doesn't mean us preachers of the gospel of gear should shut up. Saving one person from permanent damage is worth all of the we get.

Oh, and welcome to Motohouston.

^ohh your avatar! /

I squid it up when I wash my bike and ride down the street to dry it off. I wear tshirt, shorts and nothing on my feet...not even socks. It's a very uncomfortable feeling, atleast for me. The wind in the eyes is really bothersome, and I am only riding 20-30mph, so I don't know how some of you squids do it lol.

I like that saying.

I dont give a how hot it is outside, yeah i might be a little uncomfortable, but its just not worth it to me to not use gear.

Not to mention you will actually dehydrate faster without gear than with. The human body cannot keep up with the evaporation of sweat.
I make pit stops and soak a t-shirt with water then pop the gear back on and take off. With a bit of venting this kept me comfortable at a 98 trip back from Austin last summer.
If I hadn't been wearing gear this pasty white boy would have been more of a lobsterish color.
