I agree, I have been out on the HD all weekend with no gear, feels a little weird at first but then I really started to enjoy it.

Naw ill agree that when it comes to our "hot" days full leathers and such can be bad......... i dare say even dangerous. I would think that with the extra gear comes extra heat which can become dangerous and lower your ability to function. But come on...... lets use our heads here. Helmets, gloves, and at least a summer jacket. Id rather keep my skin and no bash my head in ya know?

I personally could give a rat's what people wear. Squids suffer when they go down, that much we all already know. Aint no sweat off of my brow or skin off of my knees.

I saw a squid go down RIGHT in front of me on 1960 doing about 35-40 mph. Slammed his head on the concrete, flopped around at least 5 times on the street unconscious, both Nike Shox flew off, socks ripped, head gashed in at least 3 places and hair shaved off by the concrete. His arm was rotated around, twisted and pinned under his body in a very unnatural position and the missing skin on his arms and head was quite something to see. His wallet flew out and fell near his head where the blood was steadily dripping down in fat droplets all over it and then running down the grooves in the pavement. I'll never ever forget that the rest of my life.
(Kalanie, if you read this, slap me if I exaggerated.)

When he finally came to consciousness, his confusion, inability to move and his howls of pain were pretty fckng disturbing. My stomach was inside out and I spent the next week contemplating giving up motorcycles. I dont wish negative on anyone, but I do wish every squid was right there with me seeing what I saw. It aint pretty. I had my camera with me and thought about taking pics to show everyone what it looks like, but it felt innapropriate at the time and I decided against it.

For those that get all hurt with these squid threads, aint no one telling you what to wear or you *have* to wear. You got a right to wear what you want, just like we got a right to point and laugh. Do your thing, but one day it might bite you back.

Stay safe out there.
Oh yeah, keep the pics coming, some of them are pretty amusing.

Dunno if you noticed but none of the pictures he posted are of stunters in a parking lot so your point is Honestly go back to your wheelie if you dont like the thread don't open it

I wouldn't call either one of you squids, you take a fairly calculated risk for every piece of gear you leave out. I'm sure you guys wouldn't mind a little rash from a drop in a parking lot. For what you do, I'd actually agree that a little less gear in the way would help you be safe in practicing your craft. If you want to talk more about gear being for suckers, please start another thread. Matter of fact, I'll do it for you and anyone else who wants to argue either way.

Here it is. The gear thread

More squid pics please!

oh yeah i saw a squid start a thread about seeing a squid

c'mon people, are you that bored?

and to the OP, yeah i can see hoe driving was your primary job while taking pictures was secondary. very safe thing to do. way safer than the people on their cell phones who make riding more dangerous for bikers. i guess for those people the phone was their primary tak and driving came in second.

you were taking pictures while driving and you dare to point fingers. yeah, ok!

Some people are rolling 550 feet on the front wheel, hiting s turns at 100 mph+, doing no handed wheelies at 56mph, and scraping their exaust at 143 mph on the track. To them you all are just squids like me.

If the other thread was so successful whats the diff with this one?!?!

I agree that gear is important. Period. I was told that quality leathers are actually made with good ventilation. Will I be riding full leathers on summer traffic down 59? probably not but thats what mesh is for. Less protection but more comfort.

So would it be better to make a thread with all the gory pictures of squids who didnt wear gear and got into an accident?

People will wear what they want to wear and do what they want to do on the bike regardless of what is posted on this board. Preach all you want about wearing gear.....doesnt work. Just mind your own business and wear whatever makes you happy.

Gear is a choice. Usually going without it results in numerous medical bills.

You got your head and hands protected. And you probably didn't do anything crazy, so I don't see any problem with that. My mesh vents pretty good so I make it a habit to wear but if that's what you're comfortable in, fine. Stop threadjacking. I clearly stated my intentions in the first post, if you had nothing to add, shut up already.
