06 M4 exhaust on 04 Gixxer.

Has anyone fitted an M4 short exhaust from like an 06 model year Gixxer to an 04/05 Gixxer? If so what was the biggest hang up?

Thanks,
Aaron

Matt: Will do.

gsxwhat?: From looking at Gosuki's bike tonight, It would seem that the frame mount would be the same or easy to mate up. I would have to cut my mid-pipe and get rid of the bolt and then weld the M4 on.

I know the farings differ from 00-03/04-05/06-current. Seeing that no one offers a true low-mount for the 04/05 I imagine there's an issue with the skin or something. So I'm wondering how much I'm going to have to hack up a perfectly good race faring.

...Just after riding Tims bike with that M4 on it I think it's the way to go since I have to replace my muffler anyway.

The trailing edge of the '04/'05 GSXR 600/750 Mains is considerably different than the '06/'07 GSXR 600/750 Mains. You will have to hack a considerable amount of plastic from the '04/'05 R fairing. But if you want the low mount, then by all means, hack away. Besides, it is just a race fairing, so no harm in hacking on those.

I could probably get you a comparo shot of the two fairings side by side, if needed.

that's probably the easiest way to do it...take a pic of each fairing with a known measurement taped on. Bring the image in CAD (or whatever drafting program) and put it to scale, trace your line, plot it out....whamo, you got a stencil. that's how I'd do it. Just a suggestion.

A mechanic named Jesse and I did that exact same install. It took a little less than an hour. We had to take the headers off to cut the mid pipe. We were able to use the existing mount on the frame to mount the M4. Jesse welded the M4 on to what was left of the mid pipe. The fairings didn't need to be cut. It looked super clean and sounded great. Just my .02
