My First Highside

Fortunately, it wasn't on the big bike, it was on my KLX 110 mini motard at the Katy track.

Been riding for a lot of years, collarbone broken twice, rashed once, before I knew what gear was, but I wasn't prepared for this experience.

It happened so fast that I remember being in the air, upside down, longer than the actual blastoff.

The Katy motard (go-cart) track had a little water on it this morning. I lowsided easily in the back northwest corner (# 4?), once - no big deal. I started following Rob and Vaughn (J-Cat and Bagwell) around the track watching what lines they took, but they had an easy 5 seconds per lap on me. As I took that back left hander, I started to low side again and like an idiot closed the throttle completely. Both tires caught and as the bike launched me, I knew while I was in the air what I had done. I remember thinking "This is gonna hurt". The scorpion EXO-700 took the brunt of it, but I'm pretty sure my neck is gonna be real sore in the morning.

The bike fared pretty well, tweaked the front end a bit and broke the brake lever. Vaughn and Rob missed the actual crash, but when I pulled off the track they checked on me. Turns out Vaughn had an extra front brake lever in his truck (!) which he immediately helped me install. Told me I'd be helping him with something someday etc, etc. Gentleman and a scholar.

Thanks a bundle to these guys, they got me back on the track and I was able to rebuild my confidence.

Yep, those little bikes crash just as good as the big ones.
Glad you were geared up and relatively okay.

I hope some of the guys from MNM's that race without any gear are reading this. Only takes a split second to get spit off the bike and land on your head. Gotta protect that mellon!
