moto cop down

He was doing a funeral escort when a cage pulled out in front of him. Clipped the rear of the car. He was conscious and alert when he was taken to a hospital.

Just think, people driving cars cannot see a HUGE cruiser lit-up like a Christmas tree, and we expect them to see us?!

I live near a cemetary and I gotta say, the stuff some of those escorts do is unbelievable and often stupid. I'm not saying that is the situation in this case but I still feel like '
I'm sorry if I offend any popo's out there but they really do some things that take my breath away.
For example, this is a narrow, 2 lane, old bumpy black top road, posted speed = 35mph, and these guys on many occasions have come riding along at what appears to be 70-80mph head on in MY LANE! Of course they motion for all oncoming traffic to move to the side of the road, as if that is gonna ensure that I see them before it's too late. It's like they are playing chicken with oncoming traffic.

They frequently will make a sudden move at intersections to block traffic. Now I understand that is part of the gig, but they do it so unexpectedly as to cause cars to have to brake HARD not to hit them. Then, glare at the driver, as though daring them to say anything, as though it were their fault.
Now you gotta realize, this is not the same cop all the time. It's whoever happens to be escorting any given funeral. That said, it happens often.

If this is common to how cops escorting funerals behave then I am not surprised that one of them got hurt.

My sympathies go out to the family of this officer and I hope he recovers quickly.

I understand what your saying . Dont get me wrong , I show my respect to the funeral and there family but man when these cops just jump in front of you and your on a fewway and you got a heard of people behind you . It's dangerous.

Speedy Recovery to the officer ...

I went to Motorcycles Unlimited earlier this week. On the ramp where BW8 traffic merges onto 45 northbound (just above Greenspoint Mall) there were both a cruiser and a bike cop with their sirens on coming from one lane and there was a minivan in front of me in our lane. We each have our own lane but the bike cop cut over into the solid merge line into our lane and cut off the minivan. Minivan swerves over but there is another car next to him, he freaks out and swerves back almost into the bike cop. Cop slams on his brakes and almost swerves back into the cruiser who is now gunning it trying to get ahead of the bike cop.
I slam on my brakes and the car behind me almost plows into me. Bike cop gets off, gets next to minivan and makes the universal "WTF are you doing idiot!" arm swing/hand gesture.
Bike cop guns it, completely off now.
