MSF Course Day 1

I just completed my first day of the MSF course. I have to say it went better than expected. I got the hang of the riding exercises fairly quickly. There are 2 areas I definitely need more practice on than the others. One is the cone exercise and the other is stopping quickly. Other than that the course is going great. Wish me luck for tomorrow and hope I pass!!!

Either I just learned the right technique (clutch control/look where you need to go) or Im just so lucky on the ERC but I actually enjoyed the slightly bigger "white box" exercise. I will go to the BRC lot in rosenberg and practice the blue box on the zx6 and see if I can do good on it.

It was hard for me on the 250 when I did the blue box, cant imagine the dude with his 600 doing the blue box that was in my class.

You guys worry WAY too much about the blue box. The purpose of the blue box is to show us that you can control your bike at low speeds. It's actually one of the least important things you'll learn. Trust me, being able to do a swerve or quick stop correctly is a lot more important.

And from experience, one of the most important things is learning to use the SEE strategy correctly.

Years ago, MSF used the offset weave to make that determination. 3 points for each cone hit or missed. Be glad they went to the box instead.

On another note, every Instructor here can do the small box on their personal bike whether it's a ST1300, ZX10R, WideGlide, or even a Road King.

I've even seen it done on a Boss Hoss. Definitely impressive.

I like the blue box, I go back every once in a while just for the of it.

What got me in MSF was when all 10 or 12 of us were doing 8's crossing each others paths. I thought for sure someone was going to crash into another student. And I was sure it looked like we were practicing for a circus preformance.
