Show off your Stubby

In another thread, someone suggested that we have a "show off your stubby" thread. This was in reference to people chopping cans to shorter length.

I have cut a bunch of cans (cut a Two Brothers tonight), and figured I would kick it off.

This is a Yoshi on an '05 GSXR750 that was cut from 21.75" down to 14".

is cutting cans strictly a cosmetic mod? Or is there a sound/performance value to it?

Less length to bounce around in. Yell down a paper towel roll. Cut it in half and yell again.

On some bikes depending on what you cut out it can change significantly. Cutting out a baffle on a carb bike for instance can cause lean condition that over time would destroy your valves on exhaust side if the jets aren't corrected.

Ill post my pics of last 4 bikes shortened when I get home.

The Two Brothers exhaust cut down from last night on a GSXR1000.

The pics below show:
- the way it looked when it was original length
- initial cut of the main tube (removed 8.5")
- reinstallation of the end cap, marking for replacement rivets
- reinstallation of the "stubby" on the bike
- wider shot of the finished can

The trick is to use military grade rivets to prevent them from "working" loose. And all cans (SS, Al, Ti, CF) can be cut down with a basic chop saw. Measure twice, cut once.

I agree, more like the Taylor Made on my bike. This bike will be sold, so just wanted to cut it down vs spending the time to make it like I would want it.

If you disable the SET valve, it gets VERY THROATY at an idle.

Bottom discharge is very nice!

M109: Those pipes on the cruiser are nice! Any before shots?
