I always wave. To me it's like saying, "Hey. We're on the same team. It's us (bikes) against them (cars)." Whether Harley or sportbike (but not scooters... unless they wave first, then I'll give them a "hand on the grip, raise the fingers off" wave, or a nod, as simply a polite acknowlegement... because I started on a scooter 25 yrs ago)

And I don't buy DANtheman's analogy of it's like him waving at every Tahoe. If a bike pulled up beside me at a light, I'd probably talk to him, ask him about his bike. If another F150 pulled up beside me, I wouldn't roll down the window and say, "Wow, 5.4L? ME TOO!!!!"

It doesn't bother me one bit if they don't wave back. After all, maybe they had to place their attention on something else, too... or just simply forgot. But why care? Just enjoy your ride.
Ditto. I approve of this message.

I will always return a wave, and when I notice another rider no matter what they're on I'll give the ol two finger wave....however, I think I might try the "woo hoo, hey over here: just to see what reaction I get

I wave too, better than in the UK when you are on the other side of the road so you have to take your hand off the throttle to wave.....btw whats with this 2 fingers down low wave...the French do that too...the lower the fingers the better and the cooler? Like fingers scaping along the asphalt = supercool?

I have heared that two fingers pointed down is for the two tires or "rubber side down."

Wow.. really? I did not know that. So if someone really envied you/me they would do the V, two fingers up for shiny side down?

I do occasionally - but not all the time. I mean really - where I ride a lot, there are so many riders... and it's like one continuous wave-fest! Seriously, you could just hold your hand up for while. I never take my hands of the bars to do it - just raise a couple in a peace-sign. It gets a bit tiring though. I'm thinking of cutting back to just literbikes...
