Riding to Jury Duty

Out of 70 people, I was one of the lucky 13 to get picked... and this case last 4-5 weeks!! Traffic sucks so I'm think of taking my bike so I can use the HOV lane. The court house if off of Congress, 2 blocks from Minute Maid Park. Any good place to park a bike from 9am-5pm? $10-$15 a day to park in front of the court, but that's too much $$$ for 4-5 weeks. Can I trust parking it in the garage? Maybe I'll just cage it and not risk getting my bike stolen. Opinion?

If you have access to a cage take it and park further down Franklin (about 3-4 blocks) and pay a lot less than the 15-20 frog skins you're be wasting to park across the street. As it's been said, taking your bike downtown is asking for trouble. You'll spend more time worrying about your ride than you will listening to this case. Criminal or civil case? Are we going to get to see you on TV after the case is disposed? Any chance you're going to send someone to meet Jesus? Gonna write a book about your experience that becomes a made for TV story?

Park it in a garage near the courthouse towards minute maid. There's a few on La Branch. Park close to the attendant booth, be nice to them and ask them to keep an eye on it.

Or...
better yet, park in the dedicated parking garage for jurors.. top floors of the parking garage. I doubt you would get it stolen there.

Yea, I think I rather suffer in traffic then to find my bike gone...

It's a civil case... long and boring... it's a corporate case - companies sueing each other... (no, not Enron). All the jurors are LITERALLY falling asleep - including myself.

I've been on both sides of the table (plaintiff/defendant) on corporate suits and watch not only the jurors but even the judge nod off during the testimony. I kinda figured that sometimes the jury was more concerned about where they were going to eat lunch than the testamony that was going on at the moment.

Good of ya to keep our court system working. How's your boss taking your absence?

funny you say that.. one of the plaintiff's lawyer was giving his spill and his partner even fell asleep on him!

As long as my company is still paying me, I'm working from home at nights and on weekends. $40 a day from the gov't barely pays for gas and parking!
