I'm Confused

I'm looking on craigslist and different forums for possibly a new dirtbike and keep seeing that 450's seem to be, for the most part, less than 250's (both 4 stroke). Can anyone explain this?

Not sure why, but the really high performance 450's like the CRF450, YZ450F, RMZ450, etc are really a handful unless you are just a very good rider in trail type environments. Maintenance is a little higher them on well.

I personally am keeping an air/oil cooled DRZ250 and selling a DRZ400 because I will be doing trail riding. Last time I road up near Muenster, I took the 250 and had no issues keeping up with the 400's. The DRZ400 is a bullet proof bike (sort of like, in my mind, the great XR400's) but heavier to handle. I'm no small guy either, I just prefer the DRZ 250 for the fun factor.

A CRF450 or YZ450F would have been a handful to say the least in some of the areas.

There are some valve concerns on certain 450's but I'll let someone with more technical backgound address that.

So, really not 100% sure, but those reasons might have some influence.
