Seems weird to write that tix for no ins if you werent operating the vehicle on a public roadway.

Perhaps, the intent was to rocket the bike into the air -- representing NASA and all...

Well, I had fun and I just want to say EVERYBODY that went should be proud of the fact that there was NO drama at all. For the most part we were able to stay together and people rode smart.

There were a TON of people I had never seen before (and I've been around awhile) but as far as I know everyone had fun. And that is what it's all about!

So, your mistake, and your at the cop for doing his job? Interesting...

I wasnt too sure about him blocking the intersection for us or trying to get to a call. I did slow down to allow him to pass through the intersection but he didnt move.. i guess because the other 2 lanes were still going because of the green light.

Yes, I saw that guy! He came in, redlining the out of his stunt bike. Then he turns the bike as if to wheelie infront of everyone, redlines once again... then dumps the clutch and doesnt cover the rear brake. Ends up on his and the bike bent the out of his 12 bar.

I was right next to him and was one of the guys that got "checked" by GPD to make sure we were all in compliance. I rode in with gearbangn and waited for him at the gas station. This is pretty much what the officer said; "I hate to do this to you guys, but we've been getting complaints from the locals that all you guys were cruising down the highway and cutting people off left and right and basically causing a disturbance on a public highway. Do you have your motorcycle license? Show me your licenses. Do you have insurance? Show me your insurance. Again, I hate to do this to you guys but we've been getting calls all day and I have to check." Overall, his demeanor seemed friendly at first, but you can tell he was looking for anything to cite people for. Yes, it's 6 days into March, and yea, his insurance expired at the end of February, but I rarely have seen LEO's actually cite for something like that, usually they'll see the insurance has been kept up to date and the new insurance card hasn't come in yet. He never really answered our questions either about the process of bringing an actual updated insurance card and what we need to do in order to get the citation dismissed. All he kept saying was "I really don't know, you'll have to call the county clerk." I usually backup LEO's and law enforcement in general on these forums, but this Sergeant was being one of those officers that was just looking for any BS to ruin someone's ride. I can honestly say that we did not break SL at any one time on the highway, we never revved our engines to redline in neutral, and we never cut off cars during this ride. I was riding beside him 95% of this ride. The officer said, and I quote; "It's unfortunate, but you guys are guilty by association."

CLIFFS:
1) Officer checked our papers to find anything to cite
2) Found a little problem that is usually nothing to cite for
3) Issued a BS citation and didn't provide any followup for our questions

Let the guy riding with no M class be a lesson to others. There's a reason they make you get it....even though I think it's a kinda cheesey test. the cops towed his bike though...when I got caught with no M at the ripe age of 17...cop was nice enough to let me walk/get a ride and have someone else with a lic. come pick it up.

Hope everyone behaved! large group rides can be scary!
Oh yes... I'm in the mists of court joy over a No M Endorsement. Learned my lesson this time tho and have a fresh class M that's 3 weeks old. No worries now when Johny Law rolls up in the rear view. He can follow all day long and I won't swet it.

Ronin,

Thanks for substantiating and filling in some more of the details.

I tried to make it clear that yes, indeed I have nobody to blame but myself for forgetting to grab my NEW insurance card however, we all know there are "degrees" of doing your job...

Ok, so you were stopped on the street, or were you parked at the gas station and he rolled up? If you werent operating it on a roadway when he stopped you, why did he write you?

If you were riding when stopped, and had an expired card, and he could not verify your insurance on TxSure, its a legit citation.

If Im just missing something, sorry.

Yeah, you're missing something... Re-read my posts and follow-up with Ronin's post - all info is in both those posts as to exactly what happened. I've already said it's a legit citation...

You said you were no where near your bike, you were buying something in the store.

The follow up said he was next to you, but he was waiting for you.

Im an HISD product, sorry....

No big deal, I was just trying to offer advise, but oh well....
