Thumbs down Smoker vent>>>

Ok, I hope I dont sound too condecending....here we go...

Aiight, for those who smoke cigarrettes, what do you do with your butts? I see SO MANY folks just tossing them out of their car, some of them still lit. In Texas we dont get much rain, and cigarette butts cause several grass fires a year.

I guess Im just looking for someone who does it to explain to me why.

I've wanted so many times to yank folks out of their car when I see them just leisurly toss out that . Whats the ash tray for?

I mean where's your respect for your city, town, neighborhood?

Here at work, we have a smoking section outside. Now I work in corprate america, and we're supposed to be professional here...we'll the smokers here, just throw their butts on the ground, so now theres hundreds of butts right outside the front door. GROSS!

Just on Monday a guy I was sittin on my front porch, I live in a small neighborhood btw, and as he's driving by my house he opens a fresh pack of cigs and just tosses the foil at the top, out of the window right in front of me. Didn't even think twice about it.

Well I watched him and he stopped not to far down the street, so I figured Id go tell him what I thought about it.

So I go get my mini and pick up his trash and Im headed toward him and he gets back in his truck and comes back toward me. I flag him down and Ask him "what is this" holdin his wrapper.

He just looked at me with this blank stare like "dude what are you talkin about" Thinkin about it later, I figure he didn't even realize he threw it out.

So the passenger leans over and asks, "what is it?" SO I said its a ciggarette wrapper and tossed it his truck.

Finally he put 2 and 2 together and said " thanks. I appreciate that"

So I used to smoke, when I was REALLY young, both my parents and my brother smokes, so its not like I dont know what its like or whatever...

I STILL cant understand why theres so many folks that smoke that litter.

So theres my rant. If ya smoke and have a good excuse like, "the butts are biodegradeable" or something....speak up. BTW, butts aint biodegradable.

Spending so much time in the military, I'm used to doing a 'field strip' and putting the in my pocket

Just like you said though, most don't care and are totally unaware of what they're doing... I seriously, don't care too much but habit's got the best of me and I do it without thinking

I hate that (carry a smashed up spark plug) its worse when that hits you in the face as your smashing your bike. That might teach them a lesson. I don't know maybe I'm a little out of line.

, where's the vent about people spitting gum on the sidewalk, all the garbage floating down the bayou behind my house? I see on occasion, people who live in my neighborhood throw out their car when they are driving down the street. Laziness and no pride.

Well, as for the smoking outside of your office, there is a 25 foot law in Houston. You cannot smoke within 25 foot of a buildings front door.

For more on the laws on smoking in Houston look no further than here:

You don't go after the person on those laws. You go after the building owners and the tennants with the Houston health dept. Then they will take the appropriate actions with their employees Then when your boss repremands you on something like this and your job is at stake, maybe you will be more inclined to comply.

If is see one one of my employees "toss" a on the ground, they make a trip around the building and parking lot to pick up any other butts that may be lying around. Needless to say, the only ones who throw their butts are the customers who haven't been reprimanded yet.

I toss them out the window, off the balcony, in the street, on the sidewalk, in the puddles, in a beer bottle, in the flower bed, and ashtray if there is one.

I was at a traffic light one day and this guy (passanger) opens up his door and puts his jack in the box bag and drink on the street then they just drove off like it was no big deal. How hard is it to hold on to your trash till you get to where ever it is your going?

The littering makes me angry.. I've seen kids coming out of conveniece stores walk right past the trash cans, take their coke and chips out of the plastic bag and just toss the bag on the ground and keep walking.

Adults tossing chit out of the car window should be shot on site.

And a country wide ban of smoking in public places can not come soon enough!

About the trash issue, I empty out when I get home, work or the gas station or at lunch with one of those drive thru trash cans. With trash cans all over the place I don't understand.

On the other hand, I have tossed out a tissue loaded with snot.lol. But it disintegrates as soon as water touches it so I figured no harm.
