Track Tires Question

I have Avon VP2 on my bike for my street tire, I have used Avon's at the track before bc thats what fit my budget. I found a good deal at Motorcycles Unlimited and ordered a pair of Pilot Power 2CT. Has anyone ever used them for trackdays? How did they hold up? Thanks

They did fine for me when I was starting out. Just make sure to drop the pressures on them from your street setting. I'm not sure but I think I ran 28/30 but it was a while ago so that could be wrong.

2CT's are ok, just depends on how hard you ride, and make sure you have the pressure right...

I am putting on my tires tomorrow and I dont plan to ride on them till the trackday, I know they always say to be easy on them for the first 30-50 miles bc of the slick coating they have on them. Should I ride on them before Sat or is there another way to get that coating off? thanks

I used 2CTs for my first TD. I didnt like them too much. They never moved too much on me but I could not get them to wear right. I was using 30-30 Cold Pressures. I dont know if that was right or not.

You can hit the track without breaking them in, but make sure the tires are warm before you start to get extreme lean angle on them.

Have fun at the track.

I had the same question about new tires at the track.....I just installed some Bstone BT003RS. I cant break them in because my bike has track fairings installed. I figure since I am in level one that I will scrub them in enough during the morning round abouts. I know that the pace in the morning wont really heat them up as much but at least them can get scrubbed in. Hopefully my assumptions are true

To the OP I used PP 2CT's last year when I was tracking my heavy ZX14 and never had any issues with grip. I wasnt runing at a level 4 pace but I was pushing them to the edge as I had the directions arrows and lil michilin man wear off on the edges. I was running 30psi front and rear

the 003RS's are more track focused than the 2ct's. you should be able to get on them once they are warm. no need to scrub them in as much as the 2ct's

sounds more like a suspension and/or air pressure problem.

Nah those are street oriented so they warm up fast. What I was doing was taking the first lap easy then faster and faster after that

Yea I have only done a 3 trackdays so I am still learning ins & outs about everything dealing with the track. I have read some reviews on the 2CT's they seem to be good tires, I just want to make sure I get the most out of them.

If you got em use em. Or borrow them If anything its a confidence booster to have warm tires going onto the track.

still could be a pressure/heat/setup issue. Also, could just be a faulty tire...all of the above do happen no matter who sets it up or tire brands.
