salvage title question

question?
Daughter has an 97? thunderbird and was in a minor wreck, not her fault. dent just behind drivers side door. Anyway the Fault drivers insurance totaled her car at $2800. much more than we thought it worth so woohoo there.
Was offered to buy it back for just abit over $500. AS there is nothing wrong with the car other than the dent we will buy it back and she can still drive it.
NOW. How does the salvaged title work?
will we just get a new title in the mail saying salvage or do we need to contact someone?
Also do we need to call OUR insurance company and tell them about the salvage title on the car that THEY still insure?
annnndddd lastly when we try to sell it for cheap HOW hard is it to sell WITH the salvaged title?
later
Michael

salvage title has to be turned into a rebuilt title, then it can be insured, etc.

that requires an inspection but i dont remmber if an auto body shop can do it or not.

You will be keeping the car and the title the insd is settling with you direct not taking the car...... they are letting you retain your car & title they however will need to see the title to pay .........done this many times

As long as the title doesn't change hands between you/them.....it shouldn't change...... right?
