Nothing is different between the ballast gases; a cracked lense(not uncommon w excessive vibration on sportbikes over cars) wont cause any damage to the painted chrome housings.
Really? My HID consumes less power than the stock halogen and runs cooler. The only downside is that HID lights are not good at quick on/off situations. So, I decided not to replace my high-beam. I like to use the PASSing-trigger to flash the light. I think HIDs are great for low-beam situations, however.

The A/M kits have poor on/off.

Our bimmers use the lowbeam xenon for flash, low/highbeam everything... they are very responsive now but way too pricey for a bike modification. The ballasts are around 180, ignitors about 320 and the control module(power/ground sig) around 900. lol... but they have come along way. Give it a couple years and you'll find a decent A/M design that can do flash-to-pass.

As for power, yes they consume less running amperage then stock halogen bulbs but require over 100v(oem ballasts upwards of 400v) to ignite the gas(not amperage, just a spark jump.) Its a good show when the glass gets cracked(disco!!!!!!!! lol)

How is 5000k? Cuz I bought a 55 with 6000k for my chick. When ordering they told me the 55 watt would "wash out" the color a bit, so I was expecting it to come out mostly white with a small bit of blue but it was still too blue for my taste. I'm trying 5000k with 55watt, we will see how that goes

I saw some 45000k ones on gixxergirls.com. Supposedly they make everything look like homosexual smurfs.
