WHATS THE BEST BACKUP BIKE

Here a question I want some opinions on.

Whats the best back up bike to have when your main ride is broke down?
We are talking old faithful bikes that take abuse and neglect but are always ready when all others fail.

Opinions?

lets get specific folks.

If you say honda, can you back that up with milage and maintenance cost, plus what year.

And anything thats younger than 4 years old doesnt count. needs to be older to be consider realable unless you have over 30,000 on that bike. Know wut I mean vern

I say honda because i've heard of more super high mileage hondas (F3s, F4s and F4is) out there than any other brand of bike.

I'd have to say a bike the same as your main bike...like a twin...sounds sooo simple...but it's so convenient

I owned 2 '02 R6's at the same time...having a spare bike saved me a couple of busted trackdays being that i could quickly rob parts off one bike to make the other work in a pinch

now i own 2 '07 GSXR's...one's a 750 and the other is a 600, but the same concept...if i destroy something on my track bike (600) the street bike(750) will have the part(s) to get me though the day atleast...and vice versa

plus when you start to take one apart and don't remember how something fit before it was apart...you can look at it's "twin" to get the answer

twin bike ftw

Most are reliable if maintained. The point is to have a second bike. I prefer to mix it up a bit. I have 11k on my Honda and 10k on the v-rod, only oil change and tires.

+100 I like the idea of having twin bikes. Tempting, tempting. I guess the one with more gas in it will be the one that im going to ride for that day.

C R, Buy something that you like. Buying used means condition is more important than brand. A twin, or near twin to the primary ride can help when selecting a used bike, as you already know what to expect. Otherwise buy something that fills a desire that the primary bike isn't too good at.

Whatever you decide on, it'll still need to be maintained. If a streetbike it'll have to have insurance, registration and inspection sticker. In other words, a second (or more) bike has it's price.

I like the idea of twins or near twins...

WHATS THE BEST BACKUP BIKE
