might need to check your sources. kawi has a feature called "safety neutral switch" which is supposed to prevent false neutrals when its moving. could be your oil weight or you arent/werent engaging the clutch properly or burned through some cutch plates.

search www.kawiforums.com for any problems you had. im a long time member and admin there.

I ride with two 636's without this problem, but at MSRH this past saturday, Bert has the 2005 ZX-10R and he was telling me that his bike is doing the EXACT same thing you are describing about popping out of fourth. So, maybe you're not alone. Or maybe you just don't know what you're doing.

Maybe putting pressure on the gearshift (preloading) before clicking into the next gear instead of banging up and down through the gearbox would help. I have an '02 6R and the only times I've had false neutrals and such is if I am "abusing" the trans through rough, careless shifting. 9 times out of 10 it will hold up to the abuse, but if you keep doing it... anyways, I have 20k miles street/track mix with no problems.
