I'm thinking use of Oakhill was a benefit. Not sure about anymore.

My understanding is that Oakhill is about to be the site of a mining operation. No wonder CMRA isn't running there this year.

Maybe it's a "been there, done that" type thing for some. Like sky diving?

I earned my pilots license in the mid 80's... burned around 300 hours and realized I
liked racing more then flying.

Some people REALLY like track days but don't want to race. I know I would find
track days boring and REALLY loved racing. The only way to tell if you like it is to
jump in.

I know where you got the idea for this thread. I think some people get caught up in the hype. Maybe they get off being labeled as a "racer"

NHRA licences holder here, because HRP won't let you race without one of you run faster than a 10.000!

I know many people looking to endurance race, the cost is much cheaper than sprint racing.

Yep, and easier than sprints as well...especially for new racers.

I know of some slow pokes that are getting theirs... its cuz people talk them into it. Your standing around a bunch of track guys bullshittin, and you start talking about racing. Your automatically COOL if you have a race licence. Sounds stupid, but if youve been there... you know. Also, the guys at work say "so you just ride on the track? you dont actually race?" so you might at well go get your license and tell everybody at work you race and how hardcore you are.

Now, thats only one side. the other is the actually fast people that have money. If your fast, have money and .... why not?

But personally, I waited till I was concedered "slightly fast" to get mine....and I crashed that day haaaaaa

Why not? It's there money and there time...people do what they want to do

I know, for one, whenever I get my leathers/trackbike/trailer and a few trackdays under my belt, I believe I would be very interested in pursing CMRA or some other form of motorcycle racing. For me, I have always wanted to enter auto racing but its just too expensive, unrealistic and there isn't as much rotating involvement as there is in motorcycle racing. Motorcycles are so cheap!

There's nothing wrong with getting a race license. I did the class with Larry Meyers last year in Feb, with thoughts of using the CCS to get a CMRA. Never got around to it. I wouldn't mind running a race or two at TWS (Texas World Speedway). Too bad they don't run at MSRH.

In a few of my "worst" years (for spending) I probably did $20 - $30K a year
doing a full CMRA boat and some WERA stuff. And that was on a 125.

Bike racing is cheap.... compaired to cars.... (tried that for a year)

It's like crack cocaine.... you can't just do a little....

I'm a recovering addict....
