cycle shack says i need new rotors?

i bought a zx6 last week and the guy said it has floating rotors for better brake performance and it disipates heat better. well they rattle and are real noise and loose. but he said thats how they are suposed to be. well i took my wheel into cycle shack north today to have a tire put on and they like freaked out and said they dont even want to touch it uness i buy new rotors from them. they said im lucky i didnt fly over the bike or said something stupid like that. they said the rotors are in desperate need of being replaced. well im not sure if they said that cause im young and they think im dumb and will believe them so they can make a few extra bucks or what. so now the question is do i need new rotors or is that normal for floating rotors? both my other bikes rotors are solid and tight. im suposed to go to HMP sunday even tho theres a chance of rain and dont wanna drive 2 hours and find out it wont pass tech.

A free floating rotor is supposed to be loose, you should probably only have 1mm of play though... I would take it to Patrick for a second opinion if I were you.

They won't pass if their that loose man. The worse that'll happen is you'll just loose your bakes ... no big deal.... just look for something solid to stop ya.

It doesn't look to me that it'll be that big of deal to fix .... Probably just going to replace the bottons or the clips.

its not floating, they are junk. .5 mill in one direction. that was over several mil. they are trash. get normal rotors. hit me up i may have some laying around somewhere, from way back when.

Your brake fails and you slam into what ever it was you needed to avoid and get killed, that's all, 'worse' case.

i still got engine brake and rear brake so the only thing that could happen is my front brakes not work proporly. or my rotor fall off cause so much slack, i could see that being a problem
