LED lights

I have a question. I just put led lights on my bike yesterday so I'm wanting to know if its legal to ride the bike with the lights on?

No they are not illegal.....as long as they are positioned correctly and not flashing you shouldn't have a problem. Now if your doing something you aren't suppose to, you will more than likely be harrassed by the man about the lights too.

When I took the safety. Course he said there is no led law on bikes. I had neons on my old bike and rode with them on all the time. Fixing to get some on my new bike soon.

Tehre is no law about led's specifically but there are laws about colored lights. If they're blue or red, and facing forward............you WILL get in trouble.

I have LEDs on mine for the night I wanna pose! But they will signal you out on the freeway...I turn them off when I think Cops might be around so I dont add more attention to myself

As long as there not flashing. If you do get pulled over tell them it's a safety thing for you... I'm in teh academy for popos and asked. This is what I was told. But it is up to the officer to issue a citation or not. The safety issue thing just can be used as an affirmative defense.

I heard that there is no led law on bikes. Next time I talk to my dad (Cop for 35yrs) I'll ask.

You are correct....there are NO laws on LEDs.

Do a search here on MH.....someone has posted the law as it reads.
You can not legally have red or blue facing forward and/or flashing. But that's for any vehicle except emergency vehicles and also pertains to any lights. Not just LEDs.
