Buying a bike out of state???

My buddy has been looking for an 07 Cbr 600 for a while now, well the other day he ran across a website and found one for $2,900. So I email the guy for him and the guy still has the bike and the price of $2,900 is with shipping included from Florida. The guy said he is using a company/website called Uship.com to ship the bike. How does this process of shipping and paying for the bike work? Thanks

I have told him countless times not to go this route but he's hardheaded, theres nothing I can do about that. Ok well if it was a whole different situation how do those kind of transactions work?

If he is serious, for that price he should just go to florida and pick the bike up. He can rent a uhaul truck for like $20 a day when he gets there and drive home.
It'll be a good "how i got my bike" story.

chum600, Your friend needs to look elsewhere. Why?
1. That price, for that bike would sell locally without a problem.
2. A stolen bike can still take a good picture.
3. A locked up engine will also look good in a picture.
4. Any motorcycle, photographed anywhere, owned by anybody can be used in an ad.

I once offered to pick up a bike in SA with cash in hand. There was a flurry of activity by the seller and it was "sold to a friend".

We've bought two out of state bikes (NY and AZ). Once they're in Texas it takes a clean title, insurance statement for a totaled bike, a bill of sale from the seller, preferably with his DL#, and a statement that it's passed a Texas inspection to have it registered (as of 2007, maybe more hoops to jump through now).

Easy fix... Reply back and ask where in FL. Then after he returns the email, follow it up with you have a friend that lives in that area that will check out the bike for you. You will see the story change!!!
