SCANNER INFO & FREQUENCIES

very busy one I found, sounds like Harris County 860.712

Anybody smarter than I with these things? I just bought a Radio Shack Pro-94
dual trunking .
my questions:
1. How the do you work this thing? (book sucks and its not very user friendly at all)
2. explain "trunking" and how do I get it to search for trunk channels?
3. storing frequencies I find, WTF?! I'm a pretty smart feller and this thing suxors maximus as far as any type of legible explanation on how various things work with this.
4. Do you have any real world channels or frequencies that are still good / used?

done with questions for now, it was kinda fun listening to all the going down last night. there sure is some crazy 's at night

I went to your store first, as a matter of fact, Chris (solracer) and I took a ride to yo' store. the manager was very, very helpful, (she didnt know squat about them, but tried) The PRO-94 at your store was a pre-owned unit with heavy scratches, and lettering worn off. She even offered to discount an additional 10%, but in the condition it was in, I opted for the lesser unit. Forgot what number it was, but anyways, I ended up not liking it and going to the RatShack by my house and took the other back for trade in on the pro94. I also bought the programming cd your manager said I must have with the pro-94 and come to find out it was hoky. I still am not sure what the cable does from my computer to the unit, because It has zero instructions on how to transfer stuff from the net to the radio. The cd has install instruction for the interface cable only and thats all it is, now, I was told by her it was an updated cd with all the local frequencies, so you might want to tell her, its nothing but an interface cable and the cd is the install drivers for the cable. Still useless as I can't figure out how its supposed to help. I still have to manually scan and manually insert the frequencies I stumble across if I like 'em.
I have found most of the frequencies listed on various web sites are way outdated and unused, so back to scanning and hope to stumble across some.
A real database of downloadable frequencies would be cool, then maybe I could use the $20. interface cable I bought.

the 860.712 frequency I listed is busy as can be and its Harris County constables. great channel, them guys are dealing with a lot of on a continous basis.

still learning and this site has easier understood and useable info on the pro-94 http://support.radioshack.com/suppor...nics/68857.htm
