Who inspired you to ride as you do?

People get bikes for different reasons and ride differently as well.

We have dirt, street, backroads, stunting, track, strip, posing, picking up CM's....

what was your inspiration to start riding and what changed your riding habits if you altered your direction?

My dad. when the GSX-R1000 first came out he just slapped a SportRider mag down in my lap without saying anyting. the 1000 was on the cover . when I read about it I was hooked on sportbikes. Then I fell in love with watching M/C racing on TV.

(But he used to take me to school on the back of his BMW in the '80s)

My father commuted on a Honda CB550 to save money. I loved riding on the tank and wearing my helmet, till I got too big and had to be on the pillion.
So I had the desire to ride a bike and when money got tight I jumped at the excuse.

Grew up around bikes, Harley's, and had a few before life got in the way of riding.
The story a few years ago about the guy in Minnesota getting ticketed on an RC51 at 204 mph got me looking at SS bikes. Bought a Busa about 2 months after I read that story. That was about.......10 bikes ago.

Been riding dirtbikes and quads since i was about ten, my dads always had motorcycles and is a motorcycle mechanic, he taught me wrenching and how to ride, and one of my dads friends sons used to drag race, and i used to spend every friday night after school at the dragstrip in sealy, so it eventually escalated into drag racing motorcycles! Hey it keeps me from being an asshat on public roads, and winning is nice!

So i guess my dad got me into it!

CaligoneTx, It's in the DNA...my grandfather's move to Texas in the twenties was made on an Indian with my grandmother and my 2 year old father in the sidecar. From a couple of stories told to me, he was a bit of a hooligan on it (sans sidecar).

I keep thinking about another enduro bike, but for now I'm happy with my pair of streetbikes.

my grandfather use to pick me up from elementary school from time to time. all the kids would stare as i got on the back and put the helmet on and rode off. i was the coolest thing since sliced bread. it's been engrained in my blood. and when i first saw the r6 when it came out in the late 90's i said i would own one and thats where i am now. my dad getting a bike kinda pushed me into it. he would come over and tease me with his for the 6 months before i got mine. i now ride when i can for the love of it. and nothing beats the feeling of being cranked over in a corner.

My twisty hungry friends from North Carolina that I met during my time in the USMC.

Long weekends with them out in the curvey backroads of North Carolina and the mountains of Tennessee are what led me to the track.

My old supervisor got the idea in my head of buying a motorcycle. He was the one that got 4 of us together and bought a 250. Since then there is 7 of us that now have bikes, and I like the idea that all of us can go for a ride and be as crazy about bikes as we can.

I would spend my summers at my grandmothers in central France and all the kids would have mopeds. They would trick out these 50cc 2 smokes to do up to 90mph's and go try to kill them selves on mountain roads.
My parents would never ever let me ride but when I turned 14 I went to grandma's house for the summer without them and she rented me one. I swear I spent 2 weeks on that 50cc straight and had a blast!
they looked like this:

When my uncle bought an r6 it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Back then I was into cars, just like any highschooler was.

When he died and I wasnt there to see what happened to him or the bike got me wanting a bike. I was hoping he would give me a ride (or let me drive his bike) before I left the Philippines. He ended up giving me a talk about life and my goals.

Now I ride my 250 on spirited rides to get a glimpse at what he might have felt before the accident.
