Proud New Owner!!

I just wanted to say a big "Thank you" to all those who helped me with advise/suggestions towards buying my first dirt bike. I went into the process a whole lot more confident and felt like I wasn't going to get totally bent over after it was all said and done.

I picked up my new (new to me) 2000 Honda CR250 yesterday on the way home from work. It seems to be in pretty good condition and feels like it has tons of power to pull my hefty size around. I wasn't really sure what I wanted, but when I saw this bad boy...I just had to have it! Now I just need some gear so I can get comfortable on it and come riding with you guys.

Again - thanks for all the help guys!

PS - if anybody knows of any spots around katy, richmond or sugar land for me to ride around a bit, please pm me!

I better be seeing you haul up to SHNF for some trail rides. $25 for an annual pass or $5 per visit....

did the bike come with a spark arrestor? you probably don't know what that is....does it have an aftermarket pipe?

Thanks fella's! Does anybody know any "spots" around the area that I can just pull off and ride to get comfortable? Not a track, just a field or dirt patch off a road somewhere. I just want to get comfortable with the trottle and stuff. I used to ride by the movie theatre off of Grand parkway years ago (4-wheeler), but I see most of it's gone now. PM me if you know a place!

Dbuck - As soon as I get comfortable I'll come out and ride! You're right, I have no idea what a spark arrestor is, but it does have a pro-circuit pipe and silencer on it.

Very nice! We had an 01 for a while, more power than I knew what to do with. A spark arrestor will have USFS approved stamped into it somewhere on the end can, a new pro circuit sa is about $150. SWMX is very close to Richmond, and a great place to cut your teeth offroad. There isn't really anywhere around to ride around, I sometimes hit the retaining pond/bayous and powerline evesments around the neighborhood to run the bikes, but that can be dull and kinda sketchy at best.

I was gonna recommend the same thing. I have a huge regional detention pond here by my house, but I've never used it. Plus I've seen people getting harrassed for riding 4 wheelers out there so I've never bothered.
