02 r6 question

if the bike has been sitting for about a yr or so, and the carb is a little gummy, will it be safe to say that its ok to ride it for a week or to before getting the carb cleaned? will it make it less gummed up? the reason im asking is im looking at buying an 02 with 2,800 miles on it for cheap! just needs carb cleaned.

It will work...will be very sluggish though. A year will have a -ton of build up. Get that cleaned and enjoy the bike

Drain the tank, run some seafoam.

Will take a while on the chose and playing w the throttle to get the bike to work anytime you let it sit for more then a few minutes.

Rideable...maybe, but possibly be debilitating.

I finally got my carbs cleaned, floats set, needles right, and balanced.
It is a whole new bike.....all the hp "came back". Huge difference.

$300 is not bad, but if that's pricey for you, I would have someone that knows what they're doing go over with you the first time. Too many very small working parts that are lost easily.
