why not mount the light on the bottom bolts of the plate and forget the middle bend all together!! seems like the extra bend just adds more length. i used a piece of aluminum from home depot with some rubber washers. be sure to use locktite tho

i made something similar until i bought my integrated tail light kit. i wrapped it in electrical tape.
