Shoe protector for shifting

What should I get to shift comfortably and protect my shoes from the shifter?

Get a tube sock and cut off the foot part, leaving the elastic part that goes around your leg. Cut that to the length of your shoe and just slide it over your shoe. Also keeps your laces from looping around the shifter

I'm with Ed. If you REALLY want a broken ankle from riding in tennis shoes though, they make things that go over the shifter to 'protect' your shoes. If you're on the southside I know Sunny had a few in stock last time I was there.

Thanks for that edit!!!

I slipped up a month or two ago and rode in tennis shoes, and while riding thought of that picture. I'll wear my boots that were designed to protect against that sort of thing.

Those shifter boots are junk don't get one, lasted maybe 1000 miles and the neoprene was all ripped up.

I still drop serious bank on shoes and like them to stay nice, those 200 dollar hoof covers do a lot more for you than just look good
