How do you think this will effect your lap times???
Are you factoring in cost of bike?
A good way would be to divide the purchase price by number of trackdays you have ridden and continue adding in trackdays on this year's spreadsheet. It will lessen the pain if you've done, say around 60 trackdays or so!
Not so much for me.
1 Ducati 1198
2 sets tires
Slip ons
Alpinestars piece suit
Trailer
Alpinestars gloves
Boots
4 trackdays
Fuel for bike and gas guzzler hauler averaging 7.8mpg at 85mph=
Big Down payment on a Z06....
im seriously considering selling truck trailer and bike for a Z06 as my toy.
Right now im sitting at about $5K per trackday!!!!

back in the day of the caveman, beth and i would do about 30-40 dirt tracks a year.
a guy asked beth one time "how much ya'll spend on racing?"
she said "all of it."

Compare those prices to a normal Hill country ride in Texas a few years back for me.
Gas $10
Leathers $1000
Boots $300
crashing on loop 337
Airlife ride to hospital $11,300
hospital stay $45,000
Broken shoulder surgery $10,000
Broken ankle surgery $8,000
Broken tailbone surgery $6000
The thought that I dont remember any of it PRICELESS

In 2003 I raced a motard, Honda 600 sprint bike, 600 R6 Endurance bike plus rode at every LSTD event.
Tires, fuel, hotels, air line tickets, (I flew into Hallet) bodywork, bike purchases, leather repair, etc..........................

I can honestly tell you we already live the life most people dream about.
It was worth EVERY DOLLAR.

Just curious as to how many people pay for their racing/riding with cash or debit card vs credit cards? If you are paying with credit add another 20% to your totals minimum.
The only thing I financed is my bike, everything else I pay for up front or I don't buy it. Just a tip after nearly going broke from racing for many years. Please don't be discouraged if you want to race, just be responsible.

A lot of CMRA guys have someone else (who's got extra trailer space) transport their bike(s) to Hallett and fly...

Hallett is a LONG drive, and an even longer drive home with a concussion and a sprained neck

Cheap-o airline tickets bought long in advance probably are equal or less to what you'd spend in food and gas for the drive there and back.

if you're really gonna go it

are you gonna factor it the cost of work missed, business missed, that cost of to the folks that take off to go with you, the cost to the group of sponsors that may support you, peripheral things like that.
they are all true costs to your racing effort.
or are you gonna figure just the money that you spend directly?
