Moto Recommendations

Just curious. Out of everyone that recommends Shops, Websites, and such, how many of you actually have an experience with them or even used there services???

On the flip side. How many times have you told someone never to go there or use them because I heard so and so have a bad experience, you never personally had an experience with them???

i've only used Motorcycles Unlimited locally...when I was down with my broken collar bone my bro would head up there every week or every other week and Patrick and the gang helped him out big time with finding/ordering everything I needed to get the bike up and running again, that's why I always recommend Motorcycles Unlimited

I rarely shop online...unless there's a huge helmet sale going on or something and the link is posted on here

I would definetly only recommend someone I've used. I was gonna take my TW to Motorcycles Unlimited, but had a freind at Yamaha, long story short my bill came up to over 1100,of course the motor is new from the base gasket up, but I should have listened to Patrick and at least got a qoute from him first. Yamaha didnt even call me to ask if they should proceed. Oh yeah and they originally qouted me $350, WTF! Honda of Houston are good people, but again a dealership. As far as online, bike bandit and dennis kirk are good for schematics and little parts, but I really wanna use Motorcycles Unlimited for something so I can see first hand that they run a great shop.

I only recommend, or boycott services that I have dealt with first hand. I don't listen to 3rd party arguments cause either more or less of the persons experience has been altered as the story is passed

im going to go against the grain here so flame away if you think its necessary.
I took my bike to Motorcycles Unlimited in 07, paid a good amount of money to have it worked on, got it back drove it home and boom, didnt work when i tried to start it up the next day. i called patrick and being the awesome gentleman he is he sent a tow trailer for it, fixed what was missed and been riding since then on my sweet katana. ( screw you guys i love my KAT) i have another bike i ride (no im not saying what it is thieves) but that was my experience. i never once flamed Motorcycles Unlimited bcuz like i said patrick fixed the problem and made it right. so every experience will be different and some may have gotten very mad at Motorcycles Unlimited but i couldnt. reminds me i need an oil change soon.......

Moral of the story, anyone can make a mistake, and while we try to not make them, it does happen. It's how you handle them that makes the difference.

FWIW, we never worked on Morvegils bike, his experience with me is personal.

Too many parrots around. Just repeating what they have read/heard. If I haven't experienced it myself, I try not to speak up.

i dont recommend any shops. i recommend people if anything. just cause bob did a good job at xyz dealership when he worked there doesnt mean your going always going to get the same treatment and quality of work.

only people i have experiance with is adam devine, dunno if he is still at stubbs 59 and david fryer, who is probably still at tmpsw. both great mechanics, ive seen them work, and i would let them do anything to my rides.

ive heard some about other places i dont repeat cause i wasnt there for it, but if i badmouth a place its because i have seen it with my own two eyes.

for my moto pursuits i have turned to the following:
pro powersports and cycle shack north for when i need some cheap little thing that i dont want to go all the way to houston for
Motorcycles Unlimited for jobs i cant do myself, dont want to do myself, or just dont have time to do.
cycle gear to try on gear and then later buy online, off of ebay or cl
that accounts for pretty much every dollar i spend on my bike, not counting gas.
