apparently there was an error in reporting... both rider and pillion survived, but are in critical condition.

A Splendora woman remains in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston’s Texas Medical Center after she was thrown from an allegedly stolen motorcycle at the end of a high-speed police pursuit early Tuesday morning.

Victoria Parks, 18, was thrown from the back of the bike after it failed to maneuver a 90-degree turn at the Washington Street exit on U.S. 59, north of Cleveland. The motorcycle, driven by Glen Gerald Geanes II, 33, of Houston, was going about 120 mph, Cleveland Police Captain Darrel Broussard said.

Woodbranch Village police began pursuing the motorcycle around 12:30 a.m. while officers were operating stationary radar on U.S. 59 just south of Texas 242, Woodbranch Village Police Chief Andre Singleton said.

“They couldn’t see the license plate, so they began pursuing the motorcycle to issue a citation,” he said. “The plate was bent back under the motorcycle.”

Neither Parks nor Geanes was wearing a helmet, Singleton said.

Cleveland Police received a call that the motorcycle was being pursued as it continued to travel north on U.S. 59, Broussard said.

The bike went through Cleveland and then exited at Washington Street north of town.

“The road veers at a 90-degree angle,” Broussard said. “The motorcycle was still proceeding at a high rate of speed and it went straight instead of turning. It jumped a large bar ditch, and the female passenger was thrown from the motorcycle.”

Emergency medical workers were called to the scene, who determined that Parks had numerous injuries to her head and body, Broussard said. A LifeFlight medical helicopter was called, but could not fly because of fog.

A ground ambulance was then called from Cleveland, which took Parks to Kingwood Regional Hospital, Broussard said. Because of her injuries, she was later transported to Memorial Hermann in Houston.

“I spoke with the family this morning,” Broussard said Tuesday afternoon, “and she is critical.”

Geanes was first taken to a local hospital, Broussard said, and then later transported to a hospital in Houston.

The motorcycle he was driving was found to have been stolen out of Harris County, Broussard said, and Geanes allegedly was found to have a handgun in his possession.

Woodbranch Village Police will pursue charges of felony evading arrest or detention and possession of a stolen firearm, Singleton said.
