Hey Staton, I have a similar helmet for sale. It's a KBC large, let me know if you want it to replace your Shoei.

Desmorider,

Uhg. You win again. My foot turned flat and blue and my chest and back had some deep bruising, but not that bad.

Irak,

Thanks, but I already a new Shoei on the way for my big melon in XXL.

It looks like a thigh, it is so swollen, but that is actually my calf back in late December. It almost looks normal now, except for the pit where the hematoma is shrinking back to whatever it climbed out of.

Got a gift in the mail today. DPS trooper issued me a ticket for unsafe speed.

Figured it was coming. The trooper never talked to me or even saw me as he showed after I left by ambulance. He also stated that the speed limit was 60 and I was going sixty (I wasn't). Guess it is time for another deferred adjudication file.

Dangit.

Thanks for the good account of the situation, good example and lessons, and glad you are doing ok.

But the cop... stupid.. that is just BS . 1) He was not there to see it so how can he determine you did not skid on water/oil etc 2) Nobody was injured but yourself 3) Nothing else was damaged besides the bike and yourself.

How can he conclude your speed let alone you were traveling at an unsafe speed?

Sorry I just have to rant for a bit. I got pulled over on Tuesday and got sworn at lectured and then given a warning by an officer. I was going a bit fast and changing lanes as I went around slower traffic (but signaling fully) as I came up on him.

After questioning, but never implicating I had broken any laws he lectured me about my riding and how I was going to hurt myself or others. He did seem genuinely concerned at least, then he let me go. I am glad he did not make up some speed unconfirmed by radar or something else and write me a ticket that I would have to get deferred for. [/rant]

I should not have been speeding, but hey I was.

The goofy part is the ticket was dated two days later at noon. No mention of when the accident took place. I can swear on a stack of Bibles that I wasn't on my bike two day later...

It may not matter. I can do deferred adjudication for $300, but I am checking to see if I can get someone to represent me and dismiss it.

The really bogus thing is that I had all intentions of making a donation to the local EMS station or a charity of their choice for the good work they did. If I have to spend it on a ticket, then the court gets my money.

I am very much against anyone using a helmet that has been down hard. The helmet will be tossed or left on the shelf of shame. I don't think I would be comfortable knowing you might be wearing it, having a crash, and then finding out it offered compromised protection.

Check out Newenough.com or local vendors that support MH, there are helmets out there that are DOT and NEW for around 45-65 bucks.

Here is one for $39.00 in XXL and also XL.
