ftw, both of my sons have never been in trouble, both were raised very strictly, both are adults now, but even at 22 & 20 yrs old, you will do anything for them, even stay up all night trying to locate him and make arraingements for his release. Thats what dads are for.
I am very proud of my sons and who they grew up to be.

I like the police. I was pulled over about 20 minutes ago by a state trooper, even when he mentioned I was getting a ticket for no insurance on the car(which I do have) I still didn't mind because he was just THAT kind of person. I ended up with just warnings though.

BTW, Scoot, I'd love to be in his shoes moreso than if i was caught racing. You can't say much since I've played with ya on the freeways. If I cot caught, he would tear me two or three new .

Maybe, maybe not. I usually don't get tickets when I'm pulled over, no matter what day it is. Could be why I like cops so much though, with the exception of one or two, cops have always been extremely nice, ticket or not.

The popo always treated me fine, never got a ticket I didn't have coming....but got a warning more than once when it COULD have been real ugly. "Yes Sir/Ma'am" and "No Sir/Ma'am" go a long ways, and there is no sense arguing...........they generally don't pull you over for kicks. But they do like a close-up look at a Busa once in awhile

Glad things turned out as well as it did................much better than the other kind of phone call.

Downtown jail being the exception................those people are

oh, I surely understand I am not one to preach to the choir when it comes to doing trip digits on the freeway. He got no scolding from me, I got him out, spoke to judge for him and he knows he screwed up. he doesnt need me telling him what he already knows

The military is absolutely bullshit that most of those guys can get away with it. Part of that is jealousy, but its true. Many know they can get away with stuff so it only encourages them (many are also responsible and true soldiers and believe in being responsible for their actions). Each of them has made an option to trade his time (and possibly his/her health/life) for one or a combination of thing: they have a strong belief in something, the money/pension/healthcare, or in many cases no one else will take them and this is the way out of that small town and since they made that voluntary trade LEO's should not make an exception for them whether out of some misplaced patriotic feeling or the desire to serve in the military and not law enforcement.

I do believe exemptions should be in the law but they should be built into the law and not handled unofficialy by the police officers. I think what everyone would like is consistency in law enforcement. Its either a law or it isn't right?

One of the exemptions I would like to see is graduated licensing as well as vehicle capability exemptions. For example, if I am driving a corvette at 80 its a lot safer than driving a suburban at 80. The corvette can outbrake and outmaneuver the suburban and can't cause anything like the suburban-so in some sense the corvette driver is being more responsbile. The other half of that is if I have a current race license as opposed to some 16 year old kid who just got a license, I obviously have trained my responses etc and this could be a mitigating factor come sentencing time.

Alright that was quite a rant-and I know I am going to get flamed for the first part of that but I fully believe that. Soldiers do deserve special consideration in personal relationships or as individuals see fit-but we as a society I don't believe should allow them special considerations-unless we as a society see fit to change the speeding laws to allow service personel to be exempt.

Most people think that cop might have gone overboard-but if you ask them to change the law my bet is they would be against allowing exemptions.
