Wow and to think that I was running through the streets of downtown Houston yesterday chasing an auto theft suspect. Broke into three vehicles and was driving a stolen truck near Minute Maid park. Caught the , recovered the stolen property, and returned the vehicle back to the owner. FTP right?

Granted people hate tickets, I do. My wife still gets them. But it's a necessary evil. If you don't like the traffic laws then complain to your legislator b/c we don't make them. Some choose to enforce more strictly than others. Your legislature voted to enact a law in regards to obscured license plates two years ago. So this essentially makes all license plates frames illegal to have on your vehicle if it covers any part of the plate. Chicken law, but many officers choose to write the ticket because its just that.....the law.

I remember when I was still new on the streets and I was dispatched to a call about a truck being stuck in a ditch on Little York. I arrived and found the truck which appeared to have rolled over, both windows open, and no driver. I found the driver about twenty yards away, he was ejected out one of the side windows because he fell asleep when driving home and wasn't wearing his seatbelt. A family friend saw the truck and called the family to the scene. Its was hard b/c the driver would have surely lived if he had his seatbelt on. So now I always write seatbelt tickets.

Law Enforcement has just like any other job I know because I work with some. I've seen enough death and gore to last a lifetime so think about that before you blast the cops for enforceing the laws that your lawmakers created.

/Rant Off

I'm not not procop or anticop, it's a job, gets the bills paid and buys the toys. I can't say that I've seen any "corruption" since the time I've been on but some officers do get carried away when writing tickets.

DAYUM! I come back and this thread is 3 pages long.

ok heres the scoop. we just now got him out. We went to court this morning, before he comes up I speak with the judge about him being in the military and having to make a flight out this afternoon.
When its his turn before the judge (10:00) the judge says A.F. = time served for fees and waives the $400.00 and issues paperwork for his release.
He finally gets out at 3:00 pm and I meet up with his mom, (my ex) and she hauls him to the airport for the 5:30 flight.

The charges or tickets are for:
90mph in a 60
illegal lane change
and not signalling lane change

3 moving violations which = 6 points off of license
The truck cost $185. to get out of impound.
