The New Icon Variant Helmt.

Opinions anyone.

I know quite a few of you don't care for Icon, but I respect your opinions.

Me, myself, I won't wear Icon helmets but they don't fit me very well either. I go with comfort, fit, and safety first, then function, quality, and durability (can't stand helmets when the vents are falling off and the visors pop off out of nowhere), then lastly I will go with the looks of the helmet. I have seen a lot of the Icons not hold up where visors were flying off and such, but this was just what I have seen.

I also like the new Icon Variant Helmet. Will like to know more about the reliabilty of ICON helmets. I have noticed that most people here is not a big fan of ICON. I'm very familiar with the ICON gloves and they are pretty good. but no idea with the helmets. With the variant I like the visor option, handy when you are stuck in traffic with the 6:00PM sun in your face.

Any opinions will be appreciated.

Its DOT approved so it can't be that bad. I have some of their gloves and a jacket that fit nice and seem to be built very well. On the other hand, my scorpion lid has funny little clips and bezels that fall off pretty easily if you look at it wrong. If you like it, buy it, and more importantly, always wear it.

Not just DOT. Per the ICON site:

I like the look of this new helmet, and would be tempted to get one if a lot more positive reviews came out.
Ive had 2 Icon helmets and they were both . Fit sucked, broke in too much and got loose, plastic vents and came off.
Crash in one and it held up just fine, but I dont think Ill ever buy another Icon lid. The quality just isnt there.
My .02, YMMV.

Seems like all those vents and shrouds would make alot of wind noise at anything over about 30mph.
And the little visor might make your neck tired after a while.

I guess it really depends on what kinda riding you are gonna do with it.

It does look pretty cool though.

Oh, another thing. For kicks and grins, I may buy one and paint it green a wait for Icon to release a gold shield. Then it'll look like Master Chief's helmet.

+1, unless you're wearing it on a tard, it may get uncomfortable quickly. I have a very low opinion of Icon. I could see it useful on the mini's, but it's an Icon, and I can't get past that, even though I like the design

Shoei makes an almost identical helmet with Shoei quality. I had an Icon helmet and sold it after wearing it twice because it was so uncomfortable. It felt very cheaply made. I would wear one if it was a choice of that or no helmet at all. Other than that, I will only wear a helmet from a quality manufacturer like Shoei, Arai, Suomy, Shark, etc. I, personally wear a Shoei X-11 and LOVE it!
