Question Gettin ready for the heat...

Ok, so yeah, it has been pretty cool as of late but, I want to start gettin ready for the "heat" when it it does return. I want any suggestions you guys might have for a good full mesh "breathable" jacket. Now, I was really looking hard at the AlpineStars Bionic Jacket:

http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1...650655-13-SM_G

But everytime I go into the store to pick it up something tells me different. I have tried all types of alternatives like leather/textile but they all seem hot as heck.

That is not a jacket. It's just body armor meant to be worn under a jacket. The mesh is Lycra and does not provide ANY abrasion protection.

Understood. Which is probably why I never bought it. I focused my attention on, however, the leather Icon jackets. I like the look, but more than that, they feel lite. thanks for the input. BTW, in terms of protection and breathability, how would you rate the dianese?:

This is what I have worn since 2000-2005, and started wearing again in 09...

http://www.vansonleathers.com/dw/prod/jacket/csv2.html

Hot when stopped, but ventilates very well while moving.

Doesnt have a fancy name like Icon/A*/Joe Rocket/etc...but Vanson has a great reputation for quality....

Never seen one, so I don't have any advice on that. I was shopping for body armor myself a little while ago and I recognized the Astar was not an actual jacket.

These. Although my one and only riding jacket is a mesh one, I should have just gotten a porf leather jacket.

Icon is S H I T! don't waste your money on it. How much is your hide worth to you?

Talk to Patrick at Motorcycles Unlimited. He'll get you fitted, and in something affordable and protective. He even guarantees fitment, and will match or beat most deals.

There's a reason you don't see that junk on the race track. It may be eye candy, but it just won't hold up in a crash. It feels lite, because it's very thin leather with padding.

Do a search. Quite a few of us have had bas experience with the brand. Stiching falling apart, gloves lacking protection, etc...

Again, ICON no bueno senior.

I hate to jump on the band wagon but they are right!! They focus more on looks than protection. Y dont u see any ppl being sponsered by them in pro race circuits? It's cuz they are junk....

Eh, just concerned because I bought a used one on the cheap recently. But for less than $80 seems like a decent deal to me.

Not the same level of quality as most of the brands out there, but it's not falling apart like some lead painted Chinese toy.

It's better than nothing, and at least you're wearing gear, however, there is much better stuff out there for roughly the same amount.
