I've ridden a few(new and old gen) and loved them. Super comfy with plenty of power. Go down to British USA and test ride one.

Yep, I just bought one right before Christmas. It's an 06. I like it a lot, really comfortable. The torque makes me lazy with shifting and the bike is smooth.

I don't know much about the last gen of the sprint (955ci 98-04), but I hear it's a decent bike. I just don't like the looks of it.

Starting out from idle, the power can be a little snatchy, but it's not a big deal. The bike also doesn't really like to lug at low rpms like other bikes I've ridden. The 05-06 can sometimes take a few cranks to start, it's a 'feature' so don't freak out about that if it seems to take 5 or so cranks to start. The power is a lot of fun and because the bike is so smooth, you sometimes don't realize how fast you're going. I really like the wide cupped seat, it's comfortable and I don't slide into the tank like on my other bikes.

Things to note about the current gen, they've upgraded the ecu a few times since 05 with improvements in starting speed and fuel maps to help with the on/off throttle abruptness. In 07 they put higher handlebars and a taller windscreen stock, they're backwards compatible so I'll probably swap mine out at some point. In 08 they changed the tank from plastic to metal to allow magnetic tank bags to be used. Some people have reported having heat cook them from the underseat exhaust (they added more insulation in 07 to help this) but I've not noticed a problem on mine. It might be because I'm used to riding naked bikes that cook me anyway.

If British USA has one, they'll let you test ride it. They basically threw me the keys to a used one and told me to be back in an hour or so. They were real nice when I was there, but I thought they were asking too much so I bought mine private party.

morvegil, Which year(s)? From what I've read from owners they're pretty much bullet proof. Just through evolution the 955 and 1050 models are the best.
