Who busted their today? (and a thank you)

I did!

Sudden stop, glass smooth asphalt with a light dusting of dried mud makes for skid frt, back, frt, back, frt, back last 5 mph drop it, into the ditch or into the side of the truck turning in front of me....

Guess which I chose....

Thank You to the metric cruiser dude that stoped to make sure I was OK.

Bruised shin and ego,
Broke mastercylinder, mirror, foot peg and flasher,
Rashed exhaust can and suit/lid.

Rode it home, was on a 300 mile goof off ride, turned into a 100 mile make work for myself ride...

I wanted to thank the dude even though I am pretty sure he isn't a MH kinda guy...

I'm fine. It was COMPLETELY my fault. I was half daydreaming/jaming to my iPod, had went from my house up 1462, CR 48, 1462, down 90 to 36, was going to go back roads to Freeport then have late lunch/early dinner at
the Purple Cow in Surfside, go up the blue water high way to Galveston and
then maybe home. Happened on 36 between Needville and Damon. There is a
big waterwell drilling company named Shultz Bros. there with a large gravel parking lot and the road has a bunch of that caliechie (sp?) dirt/gravel from the trucks all over it. Dude slowed down quick to turn left, if it had been 100 feet further up or back it would have been just a quick stop but instead it was lock up front/back/front back till finally it was obvios I was going to hit him in the side (he had started to turn by then) or completely let go of the brakes and shoot for the shoulder (gravel, no thanks) so about 15 feet from his truck and about the last 5mph I just went thump. Scared the out of him. After I collected myself and the scooter, did a quick assesment and pronounced it drivable I went back up the road turned around and came back, sure enough there were 4 or 5 black markes on the road for about
50 feet then the gas stain from the carbs.

After I got home I straightend everything out and the bike is ridable. I'm
looking on fleebay for the parts right now...

Here is a pic from aprox a hour earlier the when I got home....

It's a old Seca, XJ600. Made it nekkid.

After a 15+ year hiatus from street riding I found it in late '08 when the gas prices were stupid. I forgot how much fun riding on the street is and last year I racked up +/- 16K miles commuting and goofing (I use a bike speedo so I loose the ODO everytime the battery goes dead or it dies from rain).

I'd get something newer but for my self inflicted poverty right now...

(not including maintanance I have less then $1000 in it, including a new
Performance Suspension shock)

Nice... it's very clean. I like that quite a bit....

Old skool scooters are a hoot. If it were a modern faired sport bike it'd have
hundreds of dollars of broke instead of less then a hundred.

He is thanks!

When I take a mental health ride I kinda meander, completely random. I usually set a time or tank limit. 2 - 3 hours out then back a completely different route or 2 tanks out then a differnt route back. Haven't been out to just goof lately and today I was free. At least my scoot isn't as bad as squoddys....
