Pilot roads or road 2's? I've got a road 2 on the back, and have gotten some good highway mileage to it. But sometimes it feels like it could break loose when pushing it. The hard middle def lasts, I think I got like 3k so far with I would say maybe another 2k miles left? But the sides don't always feel that soft and grippy. Is that what u are experiencing? I think I might try something else next time around. Good for cruising around, but I don't feel like it's a good one to really rail corners... Just my .02

The Pilot Road is a touring tire. I'm not a fan of touring tires, most certainly not Michelins. You can get great mileage from a Corsa III or the new Strada Corsa. The BT016 is a great tire as well. I mean the touring tires may last longer, but there is a price to pay in grip that I don't believe is worth it.

I get the same feeling with my Pilot Road 2s. I'm comfortable enough with them for the backroads, and for the type of riding I do; however, when I brought it to the track (once at MSR-H, and the other at TWS (Texas World Speedway)), I didn't like the sensation thinking it would break loose on me in the corners. I'm pretty sure they would have stuck, but it was enough to keep me from pushing it into and out of the corners. Next time I'm going with the Powers 2cts or BT016s.

Several 600 riders have reported that they run Road 2 on the rear and Power 2CT on the front. They're very happy with that combo and say it's a good compromise for the street and track, but it is a compromise

I like the grip of the 2ct. , its even good on the 1/4 mile. Mine is wasted at 1k mi. though. I sure can't speak on the tire lasting. I will say they grip good though.

Actually, that's very true. They forced me concentrate more on being smooth so as to keep the grip constant without any abrupt movements. So in a sense, they could be considered a good "training" tire, eh?

Instead of 2 rear wheels, how 'bout a spare bike with different tires?

Haven't tried the Road 2 yet, but the Dunlop Roadsmarts on the 12R seem to work pretty good.. and I got a little more power and torque than the 7R...

On a cold day no tire is gonna grip well, especially brand new.

I have Road 2CT's - seem very good to me, but I'm not pushing that kind of envelope on the street, and I'm not on the track yet.

They are not racing tires, and aren't designed for quite that much grippage - when I looked into them, they seem to be a very good road tire with a harder rubber, then a harder one still for upright riding. The Powers have another step towards softness on the middle and sides. I'm just saying... the Roads aren't meant for what your asking...

I'm very happy with them, and at my level, unless they're cold, I'm amazed at how they perform, and at 1500 miles, it's hard to see any real wear....

Actually, the Pilot Road 2 outside compound is just slightly softer than a regular Pilot Power...
