a fixer or no?

i have been looking to buy my first bike. I have been saving for a while and some thing cought my eye.

http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/1516706911.html

the guy says it wonnt go above 20mph. is that the Tranny cause thats what i belive it to be. Now if i can fix it and keep the cost low i would feel it to be a great buy.

so my question is what do you think the problem is, and how much would it cost to be fixed? i would like to do it my self to keep the costs low if i was able to.

Sounds more like the bike has been sitting and the carbs need to be cleaned to me.

Its a manual transmission.... so if it shifts its the powerband that isnt allowing acceleration.

If the clutch was bad the rpms would increase and the bike wouldnt go anywhere.

FYI, in the future give the information but not a direct link. I wouldnt want to see another member steal your prospect away from you.

Do some head work, make sure the frame is clean and owned by the registered owner on the pink slip(check w popo.)

Motorcycles Unlimited offers to check out potential purchase bikes w a thorough look over. They will also provide important info like maintenance, chain maintenance etc etc.

I guess that would have been mentioned if it was happening.
