I am new to the community. What are case covers, and should I invest in them?

Woodcraft, NCR, or check out the PSR guards.

Bc,
It depends on the bike, but the CMRA requires case covers or different covers for a number of bikes. You can check out the requirements at www.cmraracing.com in the rule book.

Even if you're not racing but just doing track days case covers are a good idea in that they crash better and protect the engine form damage.

I've seen the woodcrafts hold up well on a lot of bikes. I have a MDR stator cover on my bike for now.

Hearsay from 3 racers

I've used both of these types for 15 years. They both hold up great.

The woodcraft will last longer due to being made from billet and not cast like the NCR. The NSR will usually start to seep oil before actually wearing all the way through the cast. They are also harder to fix since the oil gets inside the aluminum. Still good covers for the money.

Woodcraft = will discolor over time and look like .
Vortex = Look better long haul, no replacable skid plate like Woodcraft.
NCR = Look like pot metal to me.
PSR = Dont know, have not seen them. Are full covers availiable?

These are the honest opinions of this rider. Hope this helps.
