K, I'm up for BCR on Friday the 22nd. Hopefully, it will be warmer. If the trails are dry enough, I'll ride Memorial tomorrow despite the cold.

I'm considering.

What kind of pace are you planning? Haven't rode in a while so I'm not in biking shape yet this early in the year. Also, anyone here familiar with the Cypresswood trails? I live closer to those and plan on riding a couple times a week once it warms up and days get a little longer. I need to learn the trails: I've only ridden improper twice (moore elem.) and never rode proper (collins park).

There's a group from GHORBA that goes out and rides those trails once or twice a week for group rides. I rode them once and didn't feel there was any issue with getting lost on them. Just start behind the softball fields, keep riding past TC Jester and when you get to the end, turn around and ride back.

I prefer memorial and the ant hills to cypresswood.

Yeah, improper isn't the best but you have to hit the ridges along the creek to get anything technical out of it. From what I've read, I think collins has been improving and seems more popular than improper. Ant hills was alright besides it being a dead end so more likely to cross folks going back and forth. I didn't really like memorial: I didn't find any really technical sections and with the additional joggers, pets and folks on the trail (that I experienced) makes it difficult to ride very fast. Hopefully once I get back in shape, I'll be able to hit up RHR/BCR on the weekends. I hear Jack Brooks is a good technical trail when it's dry. I'll have to check it out sometime.

Rockyhill Ranch is a mountain bike riding area NorthWest of Houston on the way to Austin. It provides for a long drive just to ride, but it's nice riding with plenty of climbing which isn't found in the Houston area. They allow all conditions riding which includes night riding for those with lights. There is a small fee to ride payable before you hit the trails.

Post up if you're interested and if anyone is up for it we can make it a group trip to hit up some trails outside of the Houston area.

Bump.

Are you still planning to go to RR on Saturday?

Due to a crazy past two weeks I don't feel I'll be able to make it to rockyhill ranch tomorrow. I do think I'll head over to check out double lakes on Sunday around noon for an easy ride though.

I still encourage anyone to go to RHR I just need some rest before I can make it there.

I did the Houston Marathon last weekend and going to pass through RHR this weekend while doing a 24-Hour Adventure Race. Work 40+ hours a week and school started this week.

Well, post up if you want company when you head out to RHR. The original managers are back so expect some changes. I ended up going to BCR since I love those steak burgers. I finally met the new manager, Jon, who is very nice.
