Rockyhill Ranch 1/23 - Mountain Biking

Rockyhill Ranch trip for the end of January. Get there in the morning, ride for half the day, and return home OR camp for those interested.

Rockyhill Ranch is a mountain bike riding area NorthWest of Houston on the way to Austin. It provides for a long drive just to ride, but it's nice riding with plenty of climbing which isn't found in the Houston area. They allow all conditions riding which includes night riding for those with lights. There is a small fee to ride payable before you hit the trails.

Post up if you're interested and if anyone is up for it we can make it a group trip to hit up some trails outside of the Houston area.

I used to own the property to the north / east of Rocky Hill. Grey Hill, son of the owner of Rocky Hill, lives in my old house. I / we've ridden most of the ranch, on CRF150Fs and mountain bikes, and you can ride for 4-5 hours and not hit the same trail twice. Since the previous trail operator got the boot a couple of years ago it's kinda lost momentum, and it's a good idea to carry a good amount of water if you want to venture to the very back of the ranch on a hot day. They have coolers around the property, not sure if they are keeping them full, just ask when you get there.

So many trails in this park its not funny. My G-Pa used to own and run the cafe across the street (now day care or something). We would always bomb the actual Rocky Hill (paved street) on our bikes on our way to the park. Lots of fun to be had at that place, wish i could make it

I'd be up for Friday especially if you don't mind going to BCR in Warda instead. I am putting a 5-man (errr, person since it includes me) team together for the Dirty Dozen race and could use the practice.

Mountain bikes... I'm begging/bartering for use of a trailer on the weekend to haul the XT to Cherokee or SHNF.

Keep up? I thought we were talking mountain bikes, not motorcycles... (jk) I'm sure you'll ride laps around me. Tomorrow's forecasted high is 34 degrees. Let me know if you still want to ride.

F*** wet, too cold to get out and ride too fast this weekend. Might actually be dry though, so maybe I'll just deal with the cold since I haven't ridden in about 3 months or so.
