Bike prices lately???

Been noticing that every bike is super cheap right now! Brand new 08 leftovers are going for close to half of the MSRP when left overs would sell for just $1000 less than the newer model as recent as last year.

Used bikes that are just a year or 2 old with low miles are selling for super cheap.

Has the market and this time of year really affected prices that bad that people are pretty much giving their bikes away in order to sell them?

Should we expect to see values increase again or are bikes just becoming less valuable?

Im wondering this because I just picked up a really nice Black 2009 Honda CBR1000RR with approx $2k in mods and just 3200 miles on it for $5800 last week. I figured that was a steal which is still think it was but after looking around, Im a lot a lot of other bikes are priced very low in close to the same range. Whats happened to the values on bikes?

Discuss...

It's like this guy at Mancuso South told me. A bike is considered a luxury. With people losing jobs or getting their pay cut, luxury is the first thing to go. Just thank that you're still doing good and are fortunate enough to be able to have such a nice bike.

True. And yes, i suppose im very lucky because i know a lot of people that were laid off and are still having trouble finding work.

And I thought of that as well (bikes being luxury) but how can the dealers even afford to blow bikes out at those prices? Im assuming this is a temp thing while the market/economy is in the dumps and everyone is hurting to sell and holding off on buying new and once things start picking up, prices will come back up as well...

They can't.
Some have gone out of business already and others will surely follow.

We can only hope that the economy does pick up. There are quite a few experts that have doubts we will recover in the next few years.
As far as prices recovering, if we have the runaway inflation that many say Obama's spending has brought, low prices will be long gone.

thats a good price, but ive seen new '08 1000rrs going for as low as $7500, and i thought i had seen an '09 for $9k.

busa's still hold somewhat strong prices compared to other bikes.

but yeah, it's a buyers market.

I purchased one in 2008 the issue is higher demand on the bike and low supply. Japan is not shipping many to the use due to the high demand for the bike in canada and over seas, the bike sells for 2 and 3 times the amount they can get for it in the US.
