Instruction on how to street legalize a WR450

Hey guys, I just bought a WR450 and want to use it for the street as well as off-road.

It obviously has a head/tail light... so I know I need blinkers and a horn.

What steps should I take to make it street legal a.s.a.p.?

Thanks guys.

How about chime in first Then maybe I'll buy you a beer or two

I know they sell a kit that includes everything I need, but for near $330 from what I've seen so far, there has to be an easier way

To be legal in tx, all I need is:

-headlight
-tail light
-blinkers
-horn
-mirror
-pass inspection

right?

Don't think you even need blinkers.. but if they are on there they have to work

That's right, isn't that the whole reason behind why they teach you hand signals?

Can anyone else chime in so I can get this thing street ready asap?

I know I'll have to take it to the DMV and get it registered, right? Pass inspection, and bring it back to the DMV for a plate? That it???

Well, its a brand new WR450f. Comes with a head light and brake light... I'll have to check when I get home, but even the dealership was asking if I was going to make it street legal, I told them yes

Headlight and tail light must be DOT approved.
Tires also.
Not sure about the yammi, but the stock components on the the honda 450x are not DOT approved.
Probably gonna have to piece together something or buy a kit from Baja Designs or the like.

Thanks.

I think that your headlight also has to have both High and Low beam also.

You just have to know where to get it inspected. And no you don't need turn signals.

Lol.

So in a nutshell:

-Get bike inspected
-Take inspection ticket to Court House w/ papers
-Get plates and ride on street?

Inspection is key. As long as you can get someone to inspect it whether it is really legal or you slip a guy $20 to not look too close. All the court house wants to see is the green sheet.
