The inspection Patrick does at Motorcycles Unlimited is helpful, but it is just a basic visual inspection and a test ride. (crazy mfker hopping on random bikes!@#$)

It is definitely helpful, and worth the free charge, but don't just take it to Patrick, get the OK and think you are in the clear wit a pristine bike.

On that note, that zx6r looks fantastic white. I have always been a sucker for white.

yea the dudes name is tim, however, the bike is most likely repaired after a wreck, he buys used/wrecked bikes to fix up, hence the really good price.

I woud be careful tho, i went to look at a gsxr6 one time for a friend and it was frankenstien, seemed like the motor had been swapped mounts did not line up, some other problems. i asked him about it, he fixed it, but i strongly suggested to my friend not to buy.

looks like some scratches on the exhaust, so more then likely it has slid down the road, kawis are prone to frame cracks after going down hard, it happened to mine, but who knows it could have been a 10 mph drop, cant tell till you see it and ride it, good luck. where is this guy at by the way?

I know this gent too from Porter. He buys salvage from insurance pools and sells through Craig's List. The only thing I didn't like is that sometimes his story changes on each of the bikes from talking to him several days apart.

If you like the bike, and it checks out good (as in repaired properly), go for it....

, this guy is pretty popular.

Seems like his bikes arent perfect but they are pretty cheap. Makes me wonder how cheap he gets them and if they are salvaged, that would explain the pricing....

Depends on your situation. If you have the money to spend, i say spend a little more for a minty bike. If your buying on a budget and if its good enough for you, you can get the bike for less and fix the little flaws later so its minty...

All depends on your wallet.

He posts on Craig's List under Porter, Humble, Spring, Conroe to avoid being labeled as a dealer. Just look for his number, it is the same in all of the ads.

Keep in mind, just because a bike has been wrecked doesnt mean it should kill the deal. Lots of bikes are wrecked and repaired (most at low speed or just a fall over). As long as there is no frame damage or anything else permanent, shouldn't be an issue. I say if it looks straight and rides straight, might be worth haggling the price a little more for the steal!

He doesn't compete with the bikes I sell, as mine are extremely clean. I do not do salvage auctions either (not a dealer), I find the deals on Ebay and through a dealer network. If you look at his bikes they are definitely not what you would call "clean" or "minty". Most of his bikes have been re-painted in a solid color with fairings from here or there. Because of this fact, his bikes are sold cheap. This gent has a regular job and sells these bikes on the side as some others do.

I dont think he is shady he tells you straight up he gets them from a auction and he also tells you straight up he is NOT a mechanic!! whats so shady about that??? people sell wrecked bikes all the time and its no big deal. me personally my bike had a clear florida title all i had to do was trasnfer it.. like another poster stated just because a bike went down doesnt or shouldnt in my eyes kill a deal.. half of the people on craigslist lying about their items and from my experience Tim was as honest as could be
