Why is this so complicated to understand?

This can be solved by having a track day school offer level 1-2-3/4 on some days and 2-3/4-5 (a new level) on non noob days. Level 4 at TWS (Texas World Speedway) the last event of the year was packed. That's not surprising with a people riding track for a full season. Of course people are going to get faster and advance.

You both have good points
Dave has found a nitch with the $100 trackdays and pulling in 150 plus riders he is making a killing out there.
So much for money not being important.

Let's face it, nobody is gonna do it just to break even. If they weren't making money they would have been gone long ago I suspect.
There are certainly ways to make things better for everyone, just depends on what the orgs goal is.

Dave isn't pulling 150+ paying riders, Whoop. No chance. 100 paying riders would be a stellar track day... and packed.

I saw the paying rider list at world and it was 150 and change in the summer this year. I'm sure it was near that at msrh last time.

dead on the money,Curt.
specially if you can score weekend deals..........
*sat lvl 1- 2- 2/3 to give Ty some room for more students and instructors(i've been skipping cuz of crowd)
*sun lvl 2- 3- 4 ,4 with low traffic practice.

i dont think an extra $30-$40 bucks will kill anyone, if the grids are completely filled that tells you something.

I thought it was stated that the price of booking double day weekends and the rider turn out doesn't always make sense for the trackday org

and according to brant's math, would it be possible for a td org to break even or make money with the format that curt is requesting ?

curt are you saying on 1 day have 4 groups or 3 ? i couldnt tell the from 1-2-3/4 then 2-3-4/5

I think another big factor is track location. Ya sure at TWS (Texas World Speedway) or mshr if you do a double day you will have more people that are local that show up on sunday, but when you move that event elsewhere it seems the grids would be light on sunday.

I think if someone has some #'s from td events on total riders it would help this debate

I'm not refering to a double weekend. I mean two offerings. Recall that Levels 3&4 run together at ridesmart. So the first offering would be three groups 1,2, 3 combined with 4. On the advanced track day, it would be level 2, 3&4, and 5.

No, but I did do a track day and found things were the same in the advanced run group. A bunch of video of folks running high fifties or low two twos.

The population of riders too fast for intermediate continues to grow.

with that said....some org should try running 2 intermediate groups on "special dates" and forget the "noob" group for the day.

Exactly. Noobless days where in the least experieinced group is intermediate. Of course that places more organizational and planning requirements on the track day org. They would need an effective rider classification process.

or they need people to be honest about their skills....but you and I both know that can't be enforced. People need to just be honest and realize they can't just join a group b/c their friends are in that group. Unfortunately, the only place you'll get people in the right groups for their "true" skill set is at a race event....cuz eventually they'll get tired of being last place.

Curt, I'd like you to also bring up the amount of riders on a track issue.

If riders were to sign up for the right level, the amount of riders would not be an issue

Why do you feel targeted?

Im not. Just giving my input. You would have no traffic problem no matter how big the grid size as long as everyone is running the pace in each group accordingly.
