Moto GP-Laguna Seca

I have a couple of questions for who has been to Laguna Seca to watch Moto GP. I see the tickets range from about $70-$395. I will be flying up and going with some family to the race. I just wanted to see which ticket yall would prefer.Would general admission be ok or should I purchase a package? I really want to get a good view of the race. Thanks

That sounds like a great plan, I kinda had my eye on that. What were you thinking about parking? Are going to shuttle in or what? Idk if where going to try to rent a car or just bus it..

Any ideas on hotels?

You really can't park on the facility unless you have a parking pass and even then things fill up quick. From general admission access there are only 2 good areas to watch the race, and you guessed it, they are cramed packed.

General admission will get in the gate, and that is it. The Pit Pass gets you access to the AMA pits and vendor area. I'm not sure what the Rev Limiter pass gets you. This may have changed a little because I am basing it off of last years experience.

Saturday we had a seat in the grandstands at turn four, Sunday we sat in the grass at the top of the corkscrew. We had the passes that get you into the AMA pit and vendor areas - but I preferred the corkscrew seating to the grandstand seating. The shade offered by the trees there was nice. It got REALLY hot sitting out in the sun in the grandstands. If you hike up to the corkscrew for a seat be sure and go early so you find a good spot.

Me, I wouldn't go back. The organization was downright SH ITTY.

You have to take a shuttle bus from the college about 10 miles away - you can't park at the track. So, when the race is over and you're ready to leave you have to go stand in line and wait to get back on a bus to take you to your car.

It was 100+ degrees when we were there and we waited in line for HOURS trying to get on a bus back to our car. They had thousands of people funneled to the foot bridge to get back to the staging area - shoulder to shoulder, sweaty and hot with no water - just standing - for HOURS. Some people gave up and started hiking out on the road - on foot - 10 miles abck to their cars. The CHP said, "no" they had to go back and stand in line and wait. It was pretty miserable - not nearly enough buses and no plan for the thousands of people trying to leave at the same time. There was almost a riot.

Maybe they've fixed it since then but I dunno - I wouldn't go back unless I heard from a reputable source that these issues had been resolved.

Went to Valencia the year before and it was an all-around better trip. fans were more excited and into it, transportation to and from was expedient and easy - and you could take your own beer!!

I'll say, I did see some lines at the end of the races, but they were not that long. Now this is this year (2009) Laguna race, that I am referring to. The high for the day was 72 deg F and at night it was 52 deg F. Not a cloud in the sky. It would be my opinion that they fixed any logistic problems this year.

Maybe I'll just have to sweet talk Ben into letting us shack with him He's at his place in Dallas right now, but is coming home (his dad's house is just down the road from me) for the holidays till Saturday. I just got off the phone with his cousin and hopefully we'll get to hang out a bit while he's in town

I will probly spend the $30 bucks on parking, My cousin and some of his friends that lives in San Diego are going with me and going to get a hotel in Monterrey close to the track or water. Are yall going to fly out of Houston? if there is some people flying that Thursday before I will drive up and fly out of Houston instead of Corpus Christi.

Yessir, pops flies for Continental, so we always leave from IAH. We havnt made plans yet on when we are going tho, hopefully we'll get something ironed out this week while everyone is in town.

FYI there are no hotels close to Laguna Seca. Monterey is about a 15 minute drive from the track.
